These blenders also efficiently incorporate minor liquid components to effectively coat individual solid particles.

The ROSS Model 42N-18SS is crafted from type 316 stainless steel with interior surfaces polished to a 150-grit finish for easy cleaning. With a maximum working capacity of 18 cu.ft., the pictured blender is direct driven by a 10 HP gearmotor for processing materials with a bulk density of up to 60 lbs/cu.ft.

The agitator is a solid double ribbon design, ideal for center discharge, with internal flanges welded to shaft stub ends and a heavy-duty anti-friction bearing on the non-driven end. A two-piece safety grating with ½" diameter perforations ensure safe operation while the split folding covers are open. A spray bar with fan type spray nozzles is installed on the trough via sanitary tri-clamp connections for liquid additions. The blender is operated from a 4” color touchscreen that includes a cycle timer, start/stop, forward/reverse and speed controls. The finished product is discharged through a pneumatically-operated 4″ dust-tight knife gate valve.

The JAM-5200EBM Electron Beam-Powder Bed Fusion system arrives at Cumberland Additive located at Neighborhood 91

The JAM-5200EBM made its debut in North America and was operational in six days after its arrival. The JEOL team also produced a AMS 7032 compliant build within three weeks of installation, generating valuable data on the system's performance and repeatability across various build geometries. The same JAM-5200EBM machine had already completed an operational qualification per AMS 7032 specification at its manufacturing factory site in Japan where the results demonstrated that the machine is capable of meeting AMS 7011 specification minimums for Electron Beam-Powder Bed Fusion machines.

The JAM5200EBM system will initially focus on titanium alloy, but the system is easily adaptable with the addition of a second hopper and feeder system. This will enable an easy transition to produce components in Pure Copper and Nickel 718 alloy, expanding the range of possibilities for Neighborhood 91 and its collaborators.

The most common method to extract the active ingredients from the cannabis plant is supercritical CO

 extraction. At a temperature above 31˚C and with high pressure, the CO

 gets into the supercritical state, where it acts as a solvent. Passed through a chamber containing the plant material, it still has the density of a liquid but can fill the entire chamber like a gas. The advantage: The CO

 extracts the cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant without causing denaturation or damage to the product.

This produces a safe, high-quality, pure oil that can be processed for a variety of therapeutic uses. The big challenge: the highest possible yield of the ingredients in the shortest possible time. This requires optimum, homogeneous grinding of the cannabis plant. No problem with FRITSCH technology.

Homogenization and Characterization of CBD Isolates

Solid isolates of CBD can be produced as a nonhomogeneous “cake” of materials or as a mixture of loosely associated granules comprising a wide particle size distribution. Creating material suitable for consumption or subsequent formulation in other products typically requires particle size reduction and/or homogenization. Confirmation of particle size distribution of a given sample may be achieved via traditional sieving methods or by using a particle size analyzer. Small-scale homogenization of CBD isolate may be achieved by low energy ball milling or by automated mortar grinding with pestle. Larger batches of CBD material can be quickly and continuously homogenized in the FRITSCH P-14 Variable Speed Rotor Mill with Cyclone separator down to the lower micron range to the fineness of talcum powder. The combination of extremely fast homogenization with active removal of material from the rotor area in a fraction of seconds means there is no time for a temperature increase due to friction, which could cause chemical degradation.
