The Cannabist Company Announces They Have Begun Adult-Use Cannabis Sales in Delaware

In a recent press release (1), the Cannabist Company Holdings Inc. (The Cannabist Company) announced that the company had started conducting adult-use cannabis sales in Delaware in each of their three Columbia Care cannabis dispensary locations throughout the state.

“We're excited to bring adult-use cannabis to Delaware and welcome new customers to our Delaware locations," said David Hart, CEO, The Cannabist Company (1). "Our teams have been preparing extensively for this launch. Whether you're an existing medical patient or new to cannabis, our focus remains on providing quality products and helpful guidance in a welcoming environment. We appreciate the support from Delaware communities as we take this next step together."

The Cannabis Company has locations in Rehoboth Beach, Wilmington,and Smyrna. Each of these locations will now be open daily from 9am to 9pm. The Rehoboth Beach dispensary held a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony in recognition for the official launch (1). Consumers can purchase from a variety of products and brands, such as Amber, Classix, Hedy, Seed & Strain, Triple Seven, and Ric Flair Drip (1). The other locations participated in the start of adult-use cannabis sales through special events and other promotions. In addition to these dispensaries, The Cannabist Company also has a 20,000 square feet cultivation and production facility in Milford, Delaware.

“Today’s launch of adult-use cannabis sales by Delaware’s existing medical operators is an important milestone in the rollout of the state’s regulated cannabis market,” said Commissioner Joshua Sanderlin in a recent press release (2). “We’re grateful to all who have worked hard to make this moment possible and remain focused on bringing additional licensees online in the months ahead.”

The First State began conducting adult-use cannabis sales on Friday, August 1, 2025 (2). Cannabis was legalized in Delaware in 2023, becoming the 22nd state in the US to do so (3).

“The OMC has worked closely with our medical marijuana operators to ensure a smooth transition to the adult-use market,” said Deputy Commissioner Paul Hyland (2). “Their ability to convert licenses has been instrumental in fast-tracking this launch. As more licensees join in the coming months, we will continue to focus on expanding access responsibly and fostering the growth of a strong and diverse marijuana industry in Delaware.”
