One of the recurring challenges in the medical cannabis space is the access for patients—from affordability to medical advice on what to use, patients need help. Veterans also have a unique challenge regarding access to medical cannabis if they have medical coverage through the VA. Here, veteran Cherissa Jackson of WE DECODE LLC sheds some light on these issues, hopes for the future, and her role as the medical cannabis program chair at the Cannabis Science Conference series this year.

Dr. Stephen Barnhill, Apollon Formularies, plc, discusses the work his company has been doing with patients in Jamaica. Dr. Barnhill shares that the cancer cell killing activity of Apollon’s products were similar in efficacy to that of Herceptin and significantly improved cancer cell killing when combined with Herceptin.

One of the recurring challenges in the medical cannabis space is the difficulty in conducting research because of the plant’s Schedule I status. Although there are some researchers diving in with special licenses to conduct clinical studies, there are others that are looking at real-world users to supply data. For instance, Dr. Daniel J. Kruger is a Research Investigator with the Population Study Center at the University of Michigan and Principal Investigator on a study being conducted with the Releaf app. Here, Dr. Kruger shares his interest and background in these types of surveys and his plans for the current study with Releaf on chronic pain.

Here, she shares a preview of her talk for the upcoming Cannabis Science Conference East.

Plenary speaker Dr. David (Dedi) Meiri, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Biology, Technion Israel Institute of Technology, Head of the Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Cannabinoid Research, Technion, and Founder, Cannasoul LTD shares a preview of his address for Cannabis Science Conference East as well as other exciting developments in his research.

Professor Jack Henion, Emeritus Professor of Toxicology at Cornell University, co-founder of Advion BioSciences, CSO of Advion, Inc., and current analytical science consultant, shares his analytical talk for CSC East focused on a test for the determination of THC in breath analysis. Dr. Henion also discusses some of the challenges facing analytical testing laboratories focused on cannabis analysis.

Dr. Zacariah Hildenbrand shares his various research interests as well as the challenges facing the cannabis and hemp cultivation industry. Dr. Hildenbrand also shares a preview of his upcoming talk and overall session he will be chairing at Cannabis Science Conference East.
