In a July 16, 2025 press release, technology platform Sweed announced a partnership with Mission [Green], a national organization dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by cannabis laws (1). As explained in the press release, the partnership is the result of Sweed’s initiative to further cannabis advocacy efforts through connections to retail technology. Along with ongoing support of Mission [Green]’s criminal justice reform efforts and goals to legalize cannabis, the partnership includes a donation to the organization.
Founded by Weldon Angelos as part of The Weldon Project, Mission [Green] financially supports those incarcerated for nonviolent cannabis offenses, works to obtain clemency for individuals, and also promotes social change.
Sweed’s technology combines management, point of sales, marketing, and inventory in one system. The new partnership will enable customers at licensed dispensaries to donate to Mission [Green] through a round-up donation feature during purchasing. Additionally, throughout the year, other opportunities for education on clemency efforts and policy reform will be included in Sweed events.
“As leaders in the cannabis industry, we view it as our responsibility to contribute in whatever way possible to the ongoing fight for cannabis clemency and policy reform that Weldon and Mission Green have so valiantly and consistently led the way towards,” stated Hallie Stahl, Director of Corporate Marketing for Sweed, in the press release. “This partnership between Sweed and The Weldon Project’s Mission Green initiative leverages the reach and reputation of the Sweed platform to further educate, fundraise, and mobilize the cannabis industry to support those who have suffered so that the industry can flourish. We are immensely proud to be partners with Weldon, and we look forward to working together to make a positive impact on the cannabis industry.”
In 2003, Angelos had been sentenced to prison for 55 years for selling less than $1000 worth of cannabis, a nonviolent offense. He was granted clemency in 2016, having served 13 years of the sentence, then founded Mission [Green] to help others obtain clemency as well.
“Having a company like Sweed partner with Mission Green is an honor, and we are truly grateful for their commitment to furthering our advocacy efforts,” stated Angelos. “Sweed is a trusted technology leader in cannabis, and to have them leverage their technical capabilities and platform to support our cause is exciting and expected to have a big impact on our reach going forward.”
Other organizations have also partnered with Mission [Green]. In June, Trulieve announced the launch of its "Roll-Up for Justice" campaign throughout June and July, enabling customers and patients in five states – Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, and Maryland – to “roll up” their total Trulieve purchases to the nearest dollar, with 100% of the proceeds go to Mission [Green] (2).
