In a recent press release, Power Knot announced their new LCD biodigester created for cannabis waste management. The device is “a fully enclosed, automated system that efficiently processes cannabis waste within 24 hours, converting it into water that can be safely discharged into sewage systems or reused for irrigation. Available in nine sizes, it can handle waste volumes ranging from 3 kg (7 lb) to 2700 kg (6000 lb) per day,” (1).
The LCD biodigester works using an enzyme mix that was created with the purpose to break down cannabis waste. Power Knot mentioned in the press release that independent third-party testing mentioned that the output of the device has zero residual tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) which allows the device to meet compliance with industry regulations regarding the disposal of cannabis waste (1).
“The LCD biodigester is already in use by some of the largest cannabis growers and edibles manufacturers in North America,” Iain Milnes, President of Power Knot, commented in the press release (1). “These businesses face stringent regulations impacting operations, especially regarding the disposal of cannabis waste. Traditional methods—such as incineration or landfill disposal—are often costly, environmentally harmful, and inefficient. The LCD biodigester provides a sustainable, cost-effective alternative that not only ensures compliance with regulations but also aligns with their commitment to environmental responsibility. By implementing our technology, these companies can reduce waste, lower disposal costs, and contribute to a greener future.”
