1. SB 2514 Law Establishing Revoking of Medical Cannabis Cards for Drug-Related Crimes, Signed by Governor DeSantis

SB 2514 was recently signed into law by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The bill establishes that the state of Florida can revoke medical cannabis cards licensed in the Sunshine State for individuals that have been convicted of drug-related crimes. The Florida Department of Health will be able to “revoke the medical marijuana use registry registration of qualified patients and caregivers who enter certain pleas or are found guilty of certain offenses.”

Individuals who have their medical cannabis card revoked will be able to reapply to take part in the program again once they have “completed all terms” in relation to their drug-related conviction.

2. New Cannabis Testing and Sampling Initiative Launched in Missouri

The Missouri Department of Health and Human Services announced the statewide cannabis testing and sampling initiative had been launched on July 1 by the Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation (DCR). The initiative is pursuant to 19 CSR 100-1.110(12), which outlines various regulations in the legal cannabis industry and aims to promote product safety, accurate labeling, and consistent testing.

The Missouri State Public Health Laboratory was chosen as the designated testing laboratory, though other licensed facilities reportedly could be used for testing. Overall, this is anticipated to build consumer trust and strengthen the integrity of the state’s market.

3. Mid-Year Cannabis and Hemp Regulations Roundup

As we hit mid-way in 2025, let’s take a look back at some of the trending cannabis and hemp regulations that took place in the US within the past six months. In this roundup, we cover regulations on THC and CBD products in Louisiana, hemp-derived products in California, legalization bills in Pennsylvania, medical cannabis in Virginia, and hemp products in Missouri.

4. Voter-Approved Cannabis Depenalization Ordinance Stopped by Dallas, Texas Officials

Dallas, Texas officials have prevented a voter-approved cannabis depenalization ordinance which would limit local police from being able to arrest individuals for low-level cannabis possession.

In November 2024, Dallas, Texas, voters had approved an ordinance called the Dallas Freedom Act. This measure would restrict local police’s ability to arrest individuals for low-level cannabis possession. On the November ballot, the ordinance received 67% of approval from Dallas voters.

5. Recent Study Finds THC Labeling More Accurate in Concentrate Products Than Cannabis Flower

According to a recent study titled, “Accuracy of labeled THC potency across flower and concentrate cannabis products”, research showed that out of the cannabis flower products that were tested, 56.7% of them were within 15% of their tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content listed on their product label. Regarding concentrate products, research found that 96% of these products were within 15% of the THC content on their label.

Guest speaker on our Noid Knowledge podcast, Yasha Kahn, co-founder of MCR Labs, discussed his Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) project which has been gathering testing data from 37 states and revealed significant discrepancies in potency and mold results. Kahn emphasized the need for accurate testing and labeling on products.
