New Research on Fusarium Disease Management from the University of Kentucky

In October 2024, the University of Kentucky (UK) highlighted recent research from the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment on Fusarium head blight (FHB) in hemp crops, which affects product safety and quality. The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment also published a fact sheet in the news release on the plant pathology of Fusarium head blight, specifically its identification, causes, management, and additional resources (1).

Efficacy of High-CBD Vaginal Suppositories for Menstrual-Related Symptoms: A Quasi-Experimental Study

Researchers examined the efficacy of a hemp-derived, broad-spectrum, high-CBD (100 mg) vaginal suppository in treating menstrual-related symptoms. The study was funded by Foria/Praxis Ventures, which was the brand of suppository used in the study. The study found improvement in symptom relief with participants who used the suppositories, compared to the treatment-as-usual group (2).

Study: Labeling Inaccuracies in Hemp-Derived CBD Products

A study found that a high percentage of various types of hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) products contained inaccurate claims on their labels. The 97 products tested in this study consisted of haircare and cosmetic items, food, drinks, and edibles that were purchased in 2020 in Maryland from both retail stores and online. All the products’ labels claimed they contained CBD or specified amounts of CBD that the product contained (3).

GC-FID Used to Analyze Cannabis Hemp Components

This article, originally published by our sister brand LCGC International, discusses how Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station scientists recently have been utilizing gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID) to measure different components in cannabis hemp samples (4).

Hemp-Derived Cannabinoids May Be New Foundation for Natural Pesticides, According to New Research

Cornell University published research in December 2023 that hinted how hemp-derived cannabinoids may be the latest development in natural pesticides (5).
