Cannabis Science and Technology® is pleased to announce the addition of Dominika Gruszecka to its editorial advisory board.
Cannabis Science and Technology® announces that Dominika Gruszecka will be joining its editorial advisory board (EAB) effective immediately.
Gruszecka is the Food and Consumer Products Market Manager at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. She received her B.Sc. degree in Chemistry and M.Sc. degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Waterloo in Canada under the supervision of Dr. Janusz Pawliszyn.
Gruszecka's background involves anthropogenic contaminant testing in food using a variety of sample introduction techniques to gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS), including static and dynamic headspace, and solid phase microextraction (SPME). She started at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments as a product specialist where she broadened the flavor and fragrance portfolio for the GC and GC–MS product line prior to her current role.
When asked what she is most excited about in the cannabis market, Gruszecka responded: “Being from a flavor and fragrance background through previous work with the GCMS team at Shimadzu, the projects we and our partners are working on for terpene profiling are the most exciting to me. Expanding beyond our safety and potency testing capabilities, having a way to assess products for extra functional components can be really impactful when targeting their expression.”
Cannabis Science and Technology's editorial advisory board is a group of distinguished individuals assembled to help the publication fulfill its editorial mission to educate the legal cannabis industry about the science and technology of analytical testing and quality control. The official charter of the advisory board for Cannabis Science and Technology is to support the publication in identifying the most significant developments in the cannabis science field, and in ensuring the relevance and technical accuracy of our content.
“Shimadzu is a long-standing thought-leader and innovative company when it comes to the analytical science and cannabis markets,” said Stephanie Shaffer, Group Publisher of Cannabis Science and Technology. “We value our relationship with them and are thrilled to have a member of their team contribute to our editorial mission through the editorial advisory board.”
Welcome to the board, Dominika Gruszecka!

Ep 24, Part I: Data Transparency in Cannabis Testing with Yasha Khan
November 21st 2024Evan Friedmann interviews Yasha Khan, co-founder of MCR Labs, about his journey into the cannabis industry and his efforts to promote transparency and integrity in laboratory practices. Yasha discusses the origins of MCR Labs, which began in Massachusetts to meet the needs of the soon-to-be legal medical cannabis market. He explains the challenges faced, including result manipulation by labs and the impact on public health. Yasha's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) project aimed to gather testing data from 37 states, revealed significant discrepancies in potency and mold results. Despite some states' reluctance to share data, Yasha has made much of this data public, leading to collaborative research and publications on various aspects of cannabis testing.
Gender Diversity and Innovation in the Cannabis Space: Insights from Tess Eidem, PhD
December 9th 2024Cannabis Science and Technology sat down with Tess Eidem, PhD, PCQI, member of Saturn Scientific, LLC, to discuss her journey from antibiotic research to cannabis microbiology and her observations throughout her career. Dr. Eidem highlights challenges women face in this male-dominated industry, including limited representation in leadership roles and frequent experiences of bias and discrimination.
